trade association
An association of companies in the same trade, formed to represent them in negotiations with governments, unions, other trade associations, etc. , and to keep members informed of new developments affecting the trade. Trade associations also frequently draw up contracts for their members to use and provide arbitration procedures to settle disputes between members.
